MORPHOLOGY
The cap is hemispherical, between 5 and 25 cm in diameter. It is initially a dark brown, almost black, but it gradually lightens over time. The shape of the cap can be irregular on occasion. Normally it is initially rolled and flattens out by the time it reaches maturity. Another key indicator in the development of the mushroom, is the irregular spots appearing on the cap, which are whitish when young but darken with age.
